On the Ball for Festival

Netanya Hoops for Kids and the Barak Netanya basketball club hosted the evening of the first night of Chanukah for our children in the 'Students build a Community' project from the Hefzibah neighborhood.

Professional team players organized a training activity for the kids, teaching them how to shoot at the basket, dribbling, speed and other routines. Finally the children were invited to a festive candle lighting ceremony followed by the traditional donut fest! In case this wasn't enough, one of the women players had prepared a small bag of candy for each child. What a great start to the holiday for these kids!

Two days later, the children and families in the neighborhood were invited to a Chanukah happening produced by our students, together with the Youth Council and The Young Leadership groups of the community center. The children had a great time running from station to station with the different activities - preparation of Chanukiot from recycled wood, shooting balls and bowling, trivia and bingo in the spirit of the holiday, and highly professional face painting creations by our talented students. The evening ended with the youth leaders lighting the candles and leading the songs – and of course the inevitable donuts!

Both events were highly successful, and were characterized by a lively and joyful atmosphere and a real sense of community.
