Nothing is Free

At 86 my social life is empty as can be
My doctors are my only friends
They charge the state, not me.

I visit my urologist whose magic makes me pee
I know he loves to see me smile
The state will pay for me.

My internist must wait his turn to socialize with me
He checks my pulse and my BP
His work is also free.

Next comes my cardiologist who treats my weakened heart
A happy friendly man is he
The state will pay his fee.

I can't forget my aging skin my dermatologist
He checks my moles from head to knee
And says there is no fee.

Oh, I suppose they must get paid for their expert care
But all I know is that it's free whenever I am there

These are my caring doctor friends who calm my constant fears
They truly are my closest friends in these my final years.
