I See You

I see you

In all the old familiar places,

Far away the sky is burning,

My heart remembers the hug,

My mouth misses the kiss,

I see you,

By the spring in the grove,

In our garden behind the house,

Leaning on the olive tree,

Near the mic and the keyboard,

At sunrise, at dawn,

Dawn that forever will be cursed.

With the fire emerged the horror.

I see you in everything that was bright,

Before darkness sank in,

The moon dissolved into a black cloud,

The sun rose to a dark day,

I see you now in autumn sunrises,

In every friends gathering,

In a burned field, among the rocks.

Poppy flowers sway with the breeze,

Torn pieces of memories

Float outside my window,

Fading out in the soot land

Where dry thorns cover it all,

Anemones in our beloved hideout,

They hadn't bloomed yet then,

Looking at them with craving eyes,

And at the stars that didn't shine that night,

Thousands of poppy flowers

Like a titanic flame,

Hope dissolved into void,

From mourning poppy flowers I will braid you a bouquet,

On harp's strings I will play you a grieving tune,

I'll be waiting for you

In the aisle among the grave lines,

Please come back to me as a flower,

In the valley of death in the desert.

Come back as a red flower,

Perfect, unharmed,

I will not pick you,

For earth to earth, dust to dust,

In the eternally red bloody south.
