Enriching the Israel Experience
Reichman University (Formerly IDC) & ESRA
Story and photos by Sandra Broza
Four years ago, Reichman University Herzliya invited ESRA onto its campus to offer its students volunteering opportunities. Since then, over 300 students, some of them ESRA scholarship recipients, have worked as ESRA volunteers. Apparently, the experience has been a good one, as one of this past year's scholarship students said, "ESRA gave me the opportunity to help the community and has made my time here one of the most meaningful in my life."
At the beginning of every academic year, ESRA takes part in the Reichman University Volunteer Fair attended by all the students looking for their year's volunteering activity. The Fair was held this year on the beautiful pastoral grounds of the campus, where a tree-lined street was turned into a buzzing event. Students mingled with organization representatives, acquainting themselves with the varied opportunities available. The ESRA stall attracted a great deal of interest in its volunteering options, particularly the English Tutoring Programs, Second Hand Shops and office administration.
The Fair was a lovely event, especially compared with last year's which was a virtual ZOOM event. It was wonderful to be out and about, and meeting people in a lively open air venue.
