Ruth Corman was born in Manchester, UK. As a mature student she gained an Honors degree in Sociology from Durham University. Today she divides her time between Jerusalem and London.

For the past 24 years she has worked as an art consultant for corporate and private buyers, holding exhibitions of contemporary applied arts both in Israel and the UK.

She has a passion for ceramics which she has collected for many years and has given lectures on both ceramics and photography. For many years she organized the biennial Alix de Rothschild Craft Award Scheme in Israel. Then, as Director of the British Israel Arts Foundation, she organized annual visits of top British craftspeople to Israel who give workshops and demonstrations at the Israel Museum, Tel Aviv Museum and in Tel Hai. This project continues until today.

Ruth’s first major book was the autobiography of the late David Rubinger, ’60 Years Through My Lens’ published in English, Hebrew and German. Her second book, Unexpected Israel, is a miscellany of short stories about Israel, focusing on the quirky, humorous and the moving aspects of Israeli society through her words and photographs. This coffee table style book of 86 stories and 160 photographs is available from Gefen Publications and Amazon.

Ruth has been writing her blog for eight years which today is being read in 76 countries. She says: “From day one I chose never to write anything negative, there is enough of that in the media. My aim is simple, I just want my readers to find something to smile about, particularly in these stressful
times”. For more stories go to ruthcorman.wordpress.com.
