Jack Copelovici was born in Toronto in 1954. After going to public schools in Toronto he obtained his BA at the University of Toronto. In between his second and third year he studied for a year at Yeshivat Beit Midrash LaTorah in Jerusalem. Thereafter he obtained his Bachelor of Laws from the University of Ottawa and was admitted to the Ontario Bar in 1981. In between his second and third years at Law School Jack studied comparative Israeli American Law at the Mount Scopus campus of Hebrew University.
Jack had an independent practice as a Barrister and represented clients   in the following areas of law:  commercial, criminal, defamation, estate, matrimonial, legal negligence and general
negligence. During his time in Toronto Jack was involved in committees at his synagogue as well as the Anti-Semitism subcommittee of the Canadian Jewish Congress.
Before making aliyah with his wife Ida in 2016, Jack volunteered in Israel on four occasions with Sar El and for one summer with an environmental protection organization.
Upon making aliyah Jack was determined to get involved as a volunteer. He has volunteered in Leket, for an organization providing pro bono legal assistance in civil matters to soldiers and
translating documents from Yiddish to Hebrew for the Raanana Archives.
Presently, Jack is the chair of ESRA Raanana and a counselor to Lone Soldiers at Habayit Shel Benji. There he tries to guide the soldiers upon ending their army duty in the areas of accommodation, education, career path and adjusting to civilian life in Israel. He also helps middle and high school students with their English through the ESRA English Tutoring Program.
He also volunteers in other places.
When not reading or travelling Jack loves to meet people and make new friends as does his wife Ida. They live in Raanana, have two children but, sadly, no grandchildren.
