Timeless

Ilan and Tony Katz

Time is a gap of 50 years which condenses like a small blip on the radar.

Present day, in Israel, during these difficult times we are currently going through, Tony a friend from the past arrives here from Canada, to support us.

We have not seen each other for 50 years.

The chasm of time that has separated us is breached within seconds with a hug, and no longer exists.

Time is a hiatus that now compresses down into a microsecond and catches us like a thunderstorm on a hot day.

Picking up where we left off as 13-year-old kids is easy and lost time has no significance.

Shared roots and upbringing makes continuing from when we last met in 1973 as natural as breathing fresh air.

A common history during our formative years has made this gap fade away, microscopic and non-existent.

People who are still in touch with people are remembered.

Shared memories, that are jogged after so long that one didn't even know they still existed.

Like riding your bike up the hill to the scale electric racing car track or going to the school tuck shop.

It is uplifting, knowing that friendships from yesteryear can be easily rekindled .

Tony is full of compassion, kindness, empathy and the hope to make some difference by being here in Israel and doing, not just talking.

Brimming with stories from the past and support for the future.

Two parallel lives meeting and fusing forward into an unknown but hopefully better future.

I can only thank you Tony and Ilissa for this serendipitous opportunity to get to know you once again. I am honored to call you a new-found friend.

Toda raba haver!
