On November 12, 2018 ESRA held its Annual Scholarship Award Event in Netanya at the Hefzibah Community Center. Before the heartwarming distribution of the scholarships, Mike and I were witness to the dedication of a plaque in memory of Eliezer, Sheila, and Gavriel Ottensooser at the entrance to a beautiful new computer room.
The late Eliezer and Sheila Ottensooser were friends of ours with whom we kept in touch after they left Israel for England, and our son Ilan remained friends with their son Gavriel who died twenty years ago of cancer. Amongst our photos I found a thank-you note for a donation we made to ESRA in his memory. Eliezer passed away shortly after they retired to Cannes. Sheila was English-born and we started sending her the ESRA Magazine as she was interested in what we were doing in Sderot. She left ESRA a substantial donation in her will, and we were so pleased to have the Ottensoosers honored at Hefzibah, and thank ESRA for contributing to several projects in Sderot which benefit the people here.
