An end-of-year event summed up a wonderful year for ESRA Modiin and co-chairs Cynthia Barmor and Jackie Klein. On a beautiful Thursday night in June we held a cheese and wine evening attended by over 70 members and friends on the balcony of the apartment of committee member Bev Rockman.
As the sun set in the background, the duo, Larry & Mindy, of Jacob's Ladder Festival fame, gave an awesome performance, singing favorites from the 60s interspersed with lively banter and stories about the artists themselves. The delighted crowd joined in with the well-known songs from days gone by – the Beatles, Paul Anka, Elvis and Cliff Richard, amongst others - and thoroughly enjoyed the professionally organized event. Catering fare included an impressive array of cheeses, veggies, dips and crackers, and delicious wines which were generously donated by Jerusalem Wineries. Hot drinks, fruit, cookies and cakes rounded off a perfectly idyllic event.
In tune with the evening's aim, Larry and Mindy graciously donated a portion of the moneys from sales of their DVD that was on hand. All proceeds from the evening were directed towards Neve ESRA, Modiin's afternoon care center for children at risk in the city.
Cynthia and Jackie took this opportunity of expressing their gratitude to members of the committee who work tirelessly to ensure that ESRA Modiin's events are both enjoyable and successful, as well as to all ESRA members and friends who support their efforts.
